This WebQuest is intended for fourth-sixth grade students. The intention of the WebQuest is to simulate an immigration experience to Ellis Island in the early 1900s. By gathering information from the sites that I have provided and completing the assigned tasks, students will be able to use creative thinking to create journal entries, learn more about early immigration, and will ultimately form a better understanding of the functions of Ellis Island.
In order to successfully complete the WebQuest, students will need basic knowledge of the Internet, writing skills, and an index card to write their country and immigrant name on.
The estimated amount of computer time needed is about 1-2 hours.
In grading the assignments, look for the full completion of a country and immigrant name. Evaluate the journal entries based on effort and make sure that the student has completed all five of
the entries and questions for numbers one and two.
